Can an excellent read last too long?

Without Rime or Reason is now in the hands of the first beta readers!

Clocking in at nearly 145,000 words in its current iteration, it’s not exactly a quick read. I’m hoping to cut down on the size with another round of editing, but somehow I also feel like there’s so much more I want to add. Oh, the balancing act of a work-in-progress! But at least there is progress, and I’m almost ready to start cover design. I’m also working on a map, which isn’t as easy as it sounds. A lot of forethought has to come together for a semi-accurate map spanning the rest of the series!

Speaking of the rest of the series, book 2 has now commenced! (Yay!) I’ve missed the sensation of watching in amazement as my characters ignore the script and charge off the beaten path to encounter better scenes than my outline dictates. Editing is satisfying, but I’m first and foremost a writer.

Thank you to all the beta readers who graciously agreed to take on the task! I’m very excited to see what you think! (Hopefully I haven’t missed too many plot holes!)

~Blessings, Odessa Rose Hunter
